WHITTINGTON slumped to a seven-wicket defeat as they went down at Walsall 2nds.
The villagers were sent in to bat first after losing the toss and made a strong start as Shazad Malik hit 65 and Euan Hammond made 52 to help their side reach 131-2.
But the loss of Malik sparked a flurry of wickets as Whittington found themselves on 144-5.
Three batsmen failed to register a score as the innings eventually ended on 197 all out.
Walsall never looked in real danger in response as an unbeaten 105 from Navjoth Rai and 54 not out from Dilraj Sohal saw the hosts pass with just three wickets lost.
