Whittington RFC were just the width of a post away from making it two wins on the trot this weekend.
After a win last time out at Birmingham, the hosts were looking to move further up the table.
But they had the worst possible start as the Worcestershire side dotted down within the first five minutes for an unconverted try.
As in previous fixtures, the setback sparked Whittington to life and they got onto the scoreboard as Nigel Brookes split the posts with a penalty after 20 minutes to make the score 3-5.
Whittington kept on turning the screw and nearly got a try shortly after as a great run by Joe Mara and pass to Dobson saw him go over the line, but he was just held up.
After the break the home side finally took a deserved lead. A breakaway run in midfield from Ritchie Graham started the move as good hands gave the ball to Alex Tross who darted down the wing and made it 8-5.
Whittington then extended the lead to 11-5 as Brookes converted a second penalty after Stourport were penalised for not rolling away.
With ten minutes to go, scrum half Michael Clarke was sent to the sin bin for tripping and with the extra man Stourport got their second try to make it 11-12.
Whittington pushed in the final minutes to get the win and were awarded a penalty. Brookes once more lined up the kick which looked close but the referee decided it just missed to leave the hosts disappointed.
