Whittington RFC gave away six tries as they were sunk by promotion-chasing Telford at Eastern Avenue.
The home side fielded a youthful line-up following their recent recruitment drive, while the visitors came into the game looking to keep the pressure on leaders Rugeley, and within five minutes they had made the perfect start with their first try, even though it looked like Leon Hughes had held up the grounding.
The lead was doubled inside ten minutes after a good run down the wing saw three tackles dodged as the scoreline was stretched to 14-0.
Whittington did begin to pressure the Shropshire side and a good drive by the forwards proved a great platform as clean hands in the wings saw the ball find Tom Jameson to score a uncoverted try.
Just before half-time Telford extended their lead as they dissected the posts with a penalty.
The start of the second half saw Whittington hold the visitors as repeated infringements and penalties also stopped the flow of the game.
With time ticking on Telford were able to stamp their authority on the game with a further three unanswered tries to claim the bonus point and keep up with the league leaders.
Whittington are next in league action on December 14 as they travel to Essington in what should be a tough tussle and a game the men in blue and white will be looking to win before the Christmas break.
