A junior football club in Lichfield is appealing for new players.
AFC Lichfield currently run teams at under 7, under 8, under 12 and under 15 levels all playing in the Lichfield and District Recreational League and hope to double the size of the club for the forthcoming 2012/13 season.
The club – which has recently been awarded the FA Chartered Standard – also runs an Academy for 4-8 year olds on Saturday mornings.
A spokesperson said: “Our aim is to develop football within the local community and we hope to give children of all ages the opportunity to play football in a fun and safe environment.
“They will be offered the chance to develop their skills and gain ability within the sport while also being encouraged to give something back to the club and its new members by training to become a coach or referee themselves as they get older. This will close the loop on our main club ethos which is to develop, play and give something back.
“We like to get children involved in football at an early age, focusing on the fun side of the sport in order to improve both their abilities and fitness levels. We know they develop at different stages in all aspects of life and they should be given the opportunity to learn and take part in football without feeling the pressures other clubs seem to put on children at a very young age.
“You don’t have to be the best to be part of a team and to be selected to play every week, you just need to show enthusiasm, dedication and commitment.”
The club also offers parents and guardians the opportunity to get involved by becoming coaches.
