Shenstone Pathfinder FC 1 Trysull FC 2

Shenstone Pathfinder FC crashed to a third successive defeat as they were beaten by a hard-working Trysull side.

Pathfinder started the game well with Tim Travers causing Trysull problems on the right wing – and it was a big blow to the hosts as he was forced off with a hamstring injury after just 15 minutes.

But Shenstone were still looking the brighter side however and they took the lead on the half-hour mark when Steve White’s free kick was latched onto by Seb Finkle. He calmly rounded the keeper and slotted home.

The home side were playing with confidence and putting Trysull under pressure, however a Pathfinder corner was cleared quickly and Trysull broke with pace. Two passes later and the ball was rifled into the bottom right hand corner of Heanan’s net for an excellent break away goal.

With the scores level at half time it was the visitors who started the quickest in the second half and they soon took the lead when Adam Lightfoot was outpaced on the left and the resulting shot looped over Callum Heanan in the Shenstone goal.

Pathfinder pushed hard for an equaliser and were unlucky when the always dangerous Finkle turned his man in the box and chipped the keeper only to see the ball hit the bar.

A couple of further half chances were squandered by the home side as Trysull saw the game out.

Pathfinder are in Staffs FA Vase action next Saturday (October 9) with a home game against Foley, kick off 3pm.

Shenstone’s reserves completed a resounding 6-0 win away at Crusaders with goals from Richie Holmes, Steve Davies and Ed Connick as well as a hat trick by Adam Wall sending them into the top four.
