Bosses at a Lichfield supermarket say they hope a £3million revamp will create a “vibrant and modern” experience for shoppers.
Central England Co-operative has unveiled plans for its store on Boley Park.
Proposals include the creation of a new store alongside a gym and two additional retail units.
The company, which is headquartered in the city said shoppers would also be able to enjoy additions such as a phone charging area, free water refill station and inside and outside seating.

A spokesperson for Central England Co-operative said:
“Subject to planning permission being granted, based on feedback from customers and members we believe that a variety of exciting changes to the building will create an improved shopping and working environment for everyone.
“Central England Co-operative is proud to call Lichfield its home and these proposals showcase our desire to invest in the local area with a new, vibrant and modern shopping experience.”
The proposals will also see improvements made to the car park, including wider spaces, better traffic flow and improved lighting and walkways.
If the plans are approved, the company hopes to start work on the project in 2020.
