VOLUNTEERS from a local organisation have been given the chance to take some much-needed time out.

Grace Cares welcomed Nicola Kathryn Coaching to its latest Coffee, Cake and Catch Up session.

They were able to learn practical breathwork techniques to support their wellbeing.

Emma Smith, co-founder of Grace Cares, said:

"Our volunteers give so much to support people across our community, so it's important we give something back.

"Sessions like this remind everyone that it's okay to pause and look after themselves too."

Designed to give volunteers the opportunity to "pause, connect and recharge", the session was set up in recognition that supporting vulnerable people in the community can be emotionally demanding.

Nicola Forsyth, of Nicola Kathryn Coaching, added:

"It was a privilege to spend time with the wonderful Grace Cares volunteers.

"Having lost family members to terminal illnesses, I have some understanding of how difficult it can be to support others and the toll it can take.

"Both the charity and its wonderful volunteers do an incredible job to make life easier for vulnerable people and their carers, while also positively contributing to the circular economy.

"Breathwork is a simple, but powerful tool to help regulate the nervous system, manage stress and calm the body and mind.

"It was wonderful to see the group give it a go, come together and support one another. Wellbeing isn't a luxury – it's what helps us to keep showing up for ourselves and others."
