Councillors in Burntwood will give their views on plans to build 54 new homes on land in the town at a meeting today.
Housing association Bromford has applied for planning permission for the site of the former children’s and social services centre off Sycamore Road.
Members of Burntwood Town Council’s planning and development committee will discuss the proposals this evening (14th June) ahead of a decision on the plans by Lichfield District Council at a later date.
Previous buildings on the land were demolished in 2019 with a deal agreed by Staffordshire County Council to sell the 3.3acre site to the housing association last year, but if the scheme is given the go-ahead it would see all of the new properties earmarked as affordable homes.
“The proposal incorporates the provision of 36 social rent affordable dwellings and 18 shared ownership affordable dwellings.”
