Tries came thick and fast as Burntwood RUFC’s veterans entertained tourists New Milton.
The visitors from Hampshire made regular use of replacements from the host club to produce an entertaining match played in honour of Norman Cracknell who had been Chairman of both clubs and who sadly passed away two years ago.
Burntwood built up a 24 point lead with tries by Rob England (2), Matt Bray and Dan Garritty plus a conversion each for Craig Addy and Nigel Smith before the tourists hit back with 2 tries, one by Pete Reynolds, and a conversion before half time.
Bray swapped sides to inspire the next try for New Milton to make it even closer at 24-19 but a Rob England break sent skipper Mark Bourne away for a try converted by Martin Ottey.
Reynolds, having swapped shirts, stormed away from halfway to score a try for his own side, converted by Ottey.
An interception try and conversion brought it back to 38-26 and then the last play of the match saw loanee Halil Gozukucuk race round to the posts for a converted try to end an entertaining contest.
