Schoolchildren from Burntwood have been learning about the art of willow weaving and getting to grips with poetry at an event near Lichfield.

The National Memorial Arboretum played host to youngsters from Ridgeway Primary School as they were joined by local MP Michael Fabricant.

The Conservative MP said:

“This is a project with the ‘wow’ factor. “Created as a community outreach project by Chase Terrace Technology College, it combined the weaving of willow into fantastic shapes including aeroplanes, conkers, and a polar bear with the writing of poetry – all linked to the spirit of remembrance inspired by the location.  What a fantastic collaboration between the College and the National Memorial Arboretum.”
