A COUNCILLOR has asked protesters fighting proposals for a new housing development in Burntwood to "do so respectfully".
A large contingent of campaigners are expected to attend a meeting of Lichfield District Council's planning committee this evening (20th July).
Councillors will be debating controversial proposals for land at Coulter Lane.
But Cllr Sue Woodward, Labour representative for Chase Terrace ward, said any protests should not overstep the mark.
She explained:
"It's an important meeting tonight, but I would like to ask protesters intending to lobby committee members to do so respectfully. They have an important job to do and will, I am sure, undertake their responsibilities with honesty and integrity.
"I have seen veiled threats made towards them on social media which are unacceptable and unfair.
"I'm hoping everyone involved will show respect."
