The multi-million pound regeneration project would see a large portion of the city centre transformed into retail and leisure sites, as well as housing.

Simon Glover, from Charter Management, said the scheme had led to a rise in firms identifying the city as a potential location.

“Lichfield has always been a real hub for independent businesses and niche retailers,” he said. “More and more businesses are taking on office premises in the city, attracted by its location and transport links.

“That, and the Friarsgate submissions have really put the city on the map for prospective retailers looking for a prime location to trade from.”
