A COUNCILLOR says he will continue representing local residents – but has refused to speak about the reasons behind his suspension by Reform UK.
Cllr Dean Robertson has been a member of Lichfield City Council since he won a Stowe ward by-election in February 2025.
But his listing on the authority's website changed to reflect his switch to become an independent councillor.
Reform UK confirmed he has been suspended "pending investigation".
However, Cllr Robertson said his role would not change as a result of the suspension.
He told Lichfield Live:
"I confirm that I am currently sitting as an independent councillor for Stowe ward.
"My focus remains on serving the residents of Stowe ward. I will not be commenting on private or ongoing legal matters."
Speaking after his by-election win in February 2025, Reform UK said those who had voted for Cllr Robertson had "helped to establish the grassroots of our party in Lichfield".
The suspension comes after Reform UK confirmed it had taken similar steps with Cllr Matthew Wallens, who represents Lichfield City North at Staffordshire County Council.
