Passengers are being warned of a day of delays on the cross city line between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield.
Services to and from Lichfield City and Lichfield Trent Valley are facing delays.
Train operator London Midland said an object had damaged overhead lines – and warned delays could continue throughout the day.
Rail replacement buses are being provided between some stations along the route.
