Deadline for primary school applications looming

Published:

Parents in Lichfield and Burntwood are being reminded that the deadline for primary school place applications is looming.

Staffordshire County Council’s cut-off point is on Thursday (January 15).

Cllr Ben Adams, Cabinet Member for Learning and Skills, said: “With rising birth rates and new housing developments getting underway across the county, there is pressure on school places.

“Across the county we have seen a rise of 11 per cent, and in some areas the population has risen by a quarter over the past 10 years.

“We are well placed to cope with this extra demand as we have an extensive school building and expansion programme in place, ensuring schools have enough capacity to cope with increasing demand, and parents still have a choice when it comes to their child’s education.”
