Defence Medical Services representative to speak at Lichfield business meeting

Published:

Businesses in Lichfield are being invited to hear a talk by Commander Simon Brown from the Royal Navy at the next meeting of the city’s Chamber of Trade and Commerce.

He will be discussing the progress of the Defence Medical Services (DMS) development at Whittington Barracks when the group meet on September 17.

A spokesperson said: “The DMS team are very keen to forge links with retailers and businesses in both Lichfield and Tamworth and we in the city have here a great opportunity to encourage the permanent team and visiting personnel that Lichfield is the place to shop and do business.

“Simon will be giving an overview around the purpose of DMS and of progress at Whittington following the transformation of the site and we will gain an understanding of what functions and services will be carried out there.

“We will also learn how the influx of permanent staff and those who are being trained in medical services might like to spend their leisure time and do their business.”

The presentation will be taking place in the upstairs Garrick Suite at The George Hotel on Bird Street in Lichfield at 6pm before the Chamber’s scheduled meeting which will follow at 7.30pm.

Non-Chamber members are welcome to attend both the presentation and the meeting afterwards.
