Drivers are facing a month of delays in Lichfield city centre as gas main works will see a main road closed.
National Grid has confirmed that Sturgeons Hill will be closed for four weeks from Monday (February 13).
The closure means high vehicles avoiding the railway bridge near Lichfield City station will not be able to use Cherry Orchard as an alternative route.
It will also mean parents dropping off and collecting children at Five Spires Academy, St Joseph’s RC Primary School and St Michael’s Primary School will be faced with temporary traffic lights if they enter Cherry Orchard via Sturgeons Hill – and there will be no access to the road from Boley Lane.
A spokesperson for National Grid said: “We are carrying out essential gas maintenance in the road to replace old iron gas mains with more durable plastic pipes.”
