It will be the end of an era for hundreds of students when a Burntwood school changes its name.
Chasetown Specialist Sports College will become Erasmus Darwin Academy tomorrow (July 1).
But the 676 pupils will wave off the old name with a ceremony tomorrow ahead of the official opening of the new academy in September.
A spokesperson said:
“To mark the conversion to academy status tomorrow we will be launching balloons. Every child currently in school has a balloon which will be released at 12.15pm in a mass launch.
“The balloons are part of a race – the one that gets the furthest wins that student a prize for themselves and their family.”
