Parents in Lichfield and Burntwood will today (March 1) find out which secondary school place they have been allocated.
Staffordshire County Council says nine out of ten parents will have been allocated their first choice option.
The authority says that almost 98% of the 7,406 applications will be placed in one of their top three preferred schools.

County Councillor Ben Adams, Cabinet member for learning and skills, said: “Giving clear guidance, plus working with schools in Staffordshire and in neighbouring authorities, means we can allocate school places efficiently and, in the vast majority of cases, allocate parents one of their top three choices.”
Lichfield has been earmarked as one of the areas where there is predicted to be a “pressing” need for secondary school places in the next five years.
The county council estimates that an extra 3,000 places will be needed in Staffordshire to meet the needs of a growing population.
Parents will receive letters and emails from today to inform them of the school their child will attend in September.
