STAFFORDSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service has received an award for work to support veterans.

The Gold Employer Recognition was awarded by the Ministry of Defence in recognition of efforts to support the armed forces community.

Among the measures taken by the fire and rescue service are providing at least ten days of additional paid leave for reservists each year, as well as supportive HR policies for service families, veterans and cadet force adult volunteers.

Chief Fire Officer Glynn Luznyj said:

"I am proud that this recognition acknowledges the lasting commitment we have shown to the Armed Forces Covenant over many years.

"It also celebrates how that commitment continues to evolve, most recently through the creation of our internal Armed Forces Network, which strengthens the support and connection for the armed forces community within Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service."
