A FORMER Burntwood student will be hoping to play her part in taking England to more tournament success.
Hannah Hampton, who attended Erasmus Darwin Academy, is set to start in goal as the Lionesses face tournament favourites Spain in the final of the Women’s Euros this evening (27th July).
Cllr Hayley Coles, cabinet member for communities and culture at Staffordshire County Council, said she hoped residents would be cheering on Hannah and her England team-mates.
“Our Lionesses reaching the final once again in the Euros is such a brilliant achievement and we’re all so proud of them here in Staffordshire.
“Throughout the tournament, the team have fought hard and produced some truly remarkable moments. They continue to be incredible role models for young people which we hope will help inspire the next generation of super sports stars.
“The fact that the squad prepares for tournaments like this at St George’s Park, which also acts as an educational centre and tourist landmark, is something we’re immensely proud of.
“I do hope people will join me as we cheer them on to yet another Euros cup.”
The final takes place at 5pm and can be watched on BBC One or ITV1.
