A LOCAL councillor says £7million of funding for the regeneration of Chasewater is “fully secured”.
Cllr Robin Hall, Reform UK representative for Burntwood South at Staffordshire County Council, said concerns raised by stakeholders over a review of the project were wide of the mark.
He said Chasewater remained a key asset as part of efforts to enhance country parks.
“We are reviewing the proposed plans to ensure we present the best possible business case – one that serves not only the immediate area but also the wider community.
“Chasewater is a much-valued asset and we are committed to a development approach that avoids past mistakes and delivers long-term success.”
Plans drawn up by the previous Conservative administration in 2024 had put forward proposals to enhance the Chasewater Innovation Centre and the south shore area.
Cllr Martin Murray, Reform UK’s deputy leader at the county council and cabinet member for economy and skills, said:
“This review is about strengthening the vision for Chasewater. We want to ensure the investment delivers real value and are actively exploring ways to increase funding through private partnerships and other opportunities.”
