The first General Election ballot boxes have begun to arrive as Lichfield and Burntwood prepares to find out who its next MP will be.

The first General Election ballot boxes have begun to arrive as Lichfield and Burntwood prepares to find out who its next MP will be.

The verification process is underway at Burntwood Leisure Centre, where heightened security is also in place with armed police officers stationed outside the building.

Early indications are that a result is expected between 2.30am and 3.30am tomorrow (June 9).

All four candidates standing in the Lichfield constituency are returning after previously standing in 2015, when a UKIP candidate also stood.

The 2017 battle is between:

  • Chris Worsey (Labour)
  • Michael Fabricant (Conservative)
  • Paul Ray (Liberal Democrats)
  • Robert Pass (Green Party)
