The Diocese of Lichfield has told parents it is time to move on after an investigation into the governance of a school near Lichfield.
Robin Waite, the chair of governors at Needwood CofE Primary School in Newborough was suspended in July as the Diocese and Staffordshire County Council investigated after aspects of a confidential parental complaint were leaked.
But the investigation has now closed and Mr Waite has been re-instated.
The diocesan director of education, Colin Hopkins, insisted the problems arose as a result of a “complex and unusual confluence of circumstances”.
In a letter to parents he said: “The protagonists all acted in good faith and no individual culpability arises. Some mistakes were made, but the school has learnt from these, and the priority now is to move on and concentrate on the quality of education we can offer to the children.
“I would like to thank Mr Waite for the dignified and professional manner in which he conducted himself during a very stressful time and for the commitment and passion with which he has supported the school for many years.”
Despite the investigation, Mr Hopkins believes the future is bright for the school.
“My priority has been to restore parental confidence in the school,” he explained. “Recent data show that the children have consistently made above average progress and attainment is generally above the national average.”
