THE chairman of a group fighting development on green belt land has been praised for his "tireless leadership" after it was confirmed he would step down from the role.

Burntwood Action Group confirmed that Vic Chamberlain would depart his position for health reasons.

He has been a key figure in the organisation, having signed its founding constitution in 2018.

A spokesperson for the group said:

"Vic recently informed the committee that his current health leaves him unable to give the group the energy, time and attention needed to fulfil the demanding role of chairman.

"We want to take this moment to publicly commemorate his massive drive and unwavering support for Burntwood Action Group.

"Protecting our green belt and fighting for this community has always been his absolute passion.

"Vic has been the steadfast anchor of our resistance against speculative developers. Under his tireless leadership, the team has achieved numerous monumental successes for the benefit of Burntwood.

"While he is stepping away from the administrative burdens of the chairmanship, his dedication to our cause remains completely unbroken – and he has explicitly confirmed that he will remain a member."
