Councillors are hoping to ring the changes at Harlaston phone box by converting it into a book exchange.
The Grade II Listed K6 box on Main Road in the village is the latest to be earmarked for a new use as the rise of mobile phones reduces the need for public facilities.
Now Harlaston Parish Council has submitted a formal planning applicaton to create a new mini-library.
A number of old phone boxes have been converted into book exchanges, including one in Wall.
Residents can comment on the proposals via Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
