A housing association has submitted a planning application that could see 54 new homes built on land in Burntwood.
Bromford hopes to build on the site of a former children’s and social services centre off Sycamore Road.
Buildings on the land were demolished in 2019 with a deal agreed by Staffordshire County Council to sell the 3.3acre site to the housing association last year, but if the scheme is given the go-ahead it would see all of the new properties earmarked as affordable homes.
A planning statement said a consultation with locals had taken place in February, with a public event being held at Burntwood Library in March.
“In attendance were representatives from Bromford to listen to ideas and answer questions from local residents and members of Burntwood Town Council.
“Overall, the responses received a variety of reactions, raising a number of issues and providing a number of suggestions that have been taken into consideration as part of the proposed development.”

The consultation saw changes including a switch to two cul-de-sacs – one from Sycamore Road and the other from Maple Close, as well as amending the layout to avoid issues relating to anti-social behaviour concerns.
The development would see a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom properties.
“The proposal incorporates the provision of 36 social rent affordable dwellings and 18 shared ownership affordable dwellings.”
