Hundreds of children from schools across the Midlands have visited Lichfield Cathedral to celebrate the 200th anniversary of church schools.
Every Church of England School in the Diocese of Lichfield were represented at the ceremony on Monday (October 10), while a Kenyan flag was also presented to mark the partnership between 83 Schools in Western Kenya and Church of England schools in this area.
The service was led by the Bishop of Lichfield, the Rt Revd Jonathan Gledhill, and included both old and new hymns and worship songs representing those that would have been sung in schools in 1811.
