Children from a village near Lichfield will be giving their community a flavour of the proms during an outdoor performance.
The pupils from Richard Crosse Primary School in Kings Bromley will be performing tomorrow (July 9) at 6pm.
Ahead of the event at Kings Bromley Cricket Club, the youngsters have been busy making felt Union Jacks and colourful flowers to decorate their outdoor stage – a lorry loaned by John Coupland from Eland Lodge.
Peter Gilbert, a retired stage designer, who first worked with the school last year to support them in their participation in the Lichfield Mysteries has offered his expertise to the school and helped the children to design the set, sound and lighting, while Clare Wade, a mum and member of Lichfield Operatic Society, will take on the role of artistic director.
The performance will also see former pupils returning as well as an unusual performance by staff of This Is The Road To Richard Crosse.
A spokesperson for the school said:
“The show will include performances from nursery age children to post 16 students. They have each designed a patriotic T shirt to wear on stage and are very much looking forward to inviting their friends and family to bring a picnic, but hopefully not an umbrella to come and sing along and join in the fun.”
