LICHFIELD City produced a brave performance at higher league opponents Stourbridge, but saw their hopes of an upset dashed by a goal two minutes from time.
Tyrone Barnett opened the scoring for the hosts in the second half, only for John Mills to level.
But with the clock ticking down, Ethan Freemantle ensured it was Stourbridge who progressed to the semi-final.
Ivor Green’s men forced the first save of note in the game when Jack Edwards saw his shot kept out by Lewys Benjamin, while Jude Taylor’s strike flew over the crossbar shortly afterwards.
At the other end, City stopper Brendon Bunn had to be alert to keep out an Alex Jones effort.
Taylor tried to break the deadlock with a moment of invention when he spotted Benjamin off his line, but his attempted chip dropped wide of the target.
Edwards then went even closer with a corner that struck the crossbar before Jordan Clement’s shot from distance was saved.
The second half saw Callum Griffin force Benjamin into another stop before Bunn produced a smart save at the other end to deny Jai Verma and keep the scores level.
Both keepers were having a busy evening with the Stourbridge stopper called into action to pull out a fine stop to deny Griffin once more.
The deadlock was finally broken when Lichfield were penalised for a handball in the box and Barnett made no mistake from the resulting spot kick.
But City battled back to equalise with 20 minutes to go when Griffin’s strike was blocked and Mills was on hand to tuck away the loose ball.
Stourbridge tried to restore their advantage and went close after Verma fired wide after good link-up play with Jones.
Dan Lomas saw a header saved at the other end as both sides continued to trade chances in search of a winner.
But hopes of an upset were dashed two minutes from time when Freemantle powered home to make it 2-1 to Stourbridge.
