Two Lichfield bands are bidding to lift the Staffordshire Rocks title.
The annual competition sees rock groups from high schools across the county taking part in heats before a grand final.
This year’s final takes place on Saturday (June 18) at the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre and will feature Shed Exhibition from Nether Stowe School and Caterpult from The Friary School.
Prizes up for grabsinclude a Blackstar Stage Head 100 Amplifier and Cab worth over £1,000, a guest appearance at the National Rock and Pop Competition and music vouchers courtesy of the Friends of Staffordshire’s Young Musicians.
County Councillor Mike Lawrence said:
“This year’s competition has been incredibly tight. We always have a high standard of bands coming through, and this year it has been incredible. I really wouldn’t want to be in the judges’ position, having to choose a winner out of eight fantastic acts.
“Staffordshire Rocks has always been about young people expressing themselves through music, and it’s really heartening to see so many high school pupils getting into bands, learning an instrument and letting their creativity shine.”
