Formal celebrations to mark the 313th birthday of Samuel Johnson have been cancelled.
Activities and commemorations had been scheduled for 17th September.
But Lichfield City Council said the decision had been taken due not to go ahead with the events due to them taking place during the national period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
