A BRAVE Lichfield City performance wasn’t enough as they bowed out of the Women’s FA Cup after a 1-0 loss against Coundon Court.
The higher level opponents enjoyed much of the first half possession, but the Trade Tyre Community Stadium side kept the visitors at bay until half-time.
Coundon continued to have the lion’s share of the play after the turnaround and eventually broke the deadlock when Lichfield were temporarily reduced to ten players due to an injury. A throw-in was worked well and a clinical strike found the net despite the best efforts of the City keeper.
The hosts changed things around in a bid to create more attacking options, but they were unable to find the elusive equaliser.
City’s attention now reverts back to league action as they travel to Rugby Town on Sunday (12th October). Kick-off is at 2pm.
