THE leader of Lichfield District Council says unauthorised development will not be tolerated.
It comes after a site at Woodhouses Lane saw groundworks taking place and buildings arrive over the bank holiday weekend.
Officials from the local authority have already visited the land after concerns were raised by local residents.
Cllr Doug Pullen, leader of Lichfield District Council, confirmed that planning permission was not in place for work at the site.
He said:
“I am aware of the works currently taking place at Woodhouses and have been speaking with ward councillors and council officers over the Easter weekend.
“Starting development activity over a bank holiday is unfortunately a well-known tactic, but that does not change the rules – and it does not change our response.
“An application has been submitted, but it is invalid. As a result, no planning permission is in place and we are already progressing enforcement action.
“We will not tolerate unauthorised development – and we will act where necessary to protect our planning system and our communities.”
