LICHFIELD will be hoping to return to action this weekend after the weather forced an extended break.
The men’s first XV travel to Newport (Shropshire) for a league clash as they look to build on a pre-Christmas points tally of 41 points.
With the mid-table area they occupy something of a log-jam, the Myrtle Greens will be hoping to climb even higher over the coming nine games.
Newport, meanwhile, are in second place and have already shown their abilities this season with 54-47 win at Cooke Fields in October.
Lichfield’s head coach, Paul Hurst, has guided his players through a tricky period since their loss at Lutterworth, with Christmas and the weather hindering his efforts, but he believes his players are well positioned to restart their progress to more lofty positions in the league.
Elsewhere this afternoon (17th January), the 2nd XV are at home to Cannock as they attempt to improve on a slightly disappointing lead up to the recent break.
First and second team fixtures kick off at 2.15pm.
On Sunday, the women’s first team travel to Barnsley for a 2pm fixture. They will be keen to build on three consecutive victories prior to Christmas.
