LICHFIELD Hockey Club’s women were left to rue what might have been after securing one point against Boots instead of three.
After going 1-0 down from a well-executed short corner within the opening minutes of the game, the city side stepped up and put in the hard work to draw level by half time when Ella Delderfield sent a ball up to Molly Papadopoullos who beat the keeper one on one and slotted it away.
In the second half, Lichfield were definitely the dominant team and went ahead early with Ellie Doubleday perfectly executing an improvised short corner routine.
The city women continued to be on top with little defending to do and plenty of shots of goal saved by the talented visiting keeper.
Unfortunately, some umpiring decisions did not go their way, including a harsh yellow card for Laura Jackson which saw a short corner awarded in the aftermath which Boots slotted away.
The visitors seemed content with the draw and sat back from this point onwards which made it difficult for Lichfield to push for the win, but it wasn’t to be as the encounter ended 2-2.
