Passengers travelling from Lichfield Trent Valley over the Bank Holiday weekend are being warned of changes to a number of rail services.

Train operator London Midland said bridge works mean West Coast Main Line services won’t call at Stafford or Stone between Saturday (April 30) and Monday.

Services on the route between Crewe and London Euston are also expected to take longer than usual.

A spokesperson said: “These works will remove the last remaining bottleneck that causes delays on the West Coast Main Line, leading to more reliable and potentially faster and more frequent services in the future.

“We know these closures will affect journeys, so we ask people to plan their travel in advance.”

Full details of the changes to services are available online.
