Pupils from a Lichfield school have paid tribute to servicemen and women ahead of Armed Forces Day.
Students from Nether Stowe School joined Lichfield District Council chairman Bernard Derrick in a flag-raising ceremony yesterday (June 20).
Cllr Derrick, Chairman of Lichfield District Council, said:
“Councils across the country have been raising their special Union flags today, and it was a great honour to be a part of this national celebration of our Armed Forces. Flying the flag is our chance to thank service men and women, and to show them that the people of Lichfield District think of them with pride.”
Jean Johnston, deputy head of Nether Stowe School added:
“We were delighted to be invited to attend this flag raising ceremony. It was a good opportunity to talk to our pupils about the Armed Forces and the work they do on all of our behalf.”
