Children from a Lichfield school have had their creative skills showcased in Birmingham’s Selfridges store.
Students from Maple Hayes Dyslexia School were among those who decorated desk globes as part of a project on sustainability.
The Year 5 and Year 6 pupils were challenged to use recycled materials such as paper, straw, wood and tissue.
The finished results have now gone on show in the Bullring store.
Adam Hockney, Selfridges’ general manager, said: “The desk globes have only been showcased in the windows for a few days and they are already getting noticed. They have generated hundreds of comments so far, which is amazing.
“It’s really special for us to be able to engage with the schoolchildren as they are our future.
“We have been thrilled with the outcome. There are so many different interpretations of the theme and they are well worth a look.”
The project was developed by the Ahead Partnership, which aims to create links between businesses and education.
Dr Daryl Brown, headteacher of Maple Hayes, said: “The children loved the challenge of creating the globes and were very excited to go along to the store and see their work in the windows.”
