Students from a Lichfield school are set to visit Ghana as part of a new link-up.
The Nether Stowe School sixth formers will travel to Dominase School in July as part of a partnership designed to give students from both schools to work on collaborative projects.
The Lichfield learners will work with their African counterparts to raise awareness of Aids and HIV and encourage recycling in the local community.
Fundraising efforts are also taking place to allow two teachers and a group of students from Ghana to visit Lichfield next year.
“Nether Stowe School is excited at the prospect of developing further interaction between the two schools,” a spokesperson said. “This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and become a part of a different culture.”
Psychology teacher Ann Cartlidge has recently returned from a one-week visit Dominase and taught the students there about life in the UK.
Youngsters at Nether Stowe school have also been given opportunities to gain awareness of their Ghanaian culture during an awareness week with themed lessons and assemblies, as well as an African drumming workshop.
