Lichfield Friary Tennis Club has been awarded the prestigious Clubmark status.
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) gives the award based on the national guidelines for best practice as introduced by Sport England in 2002 across 34 sports.
There are only 800 Clubmark accredited clubs in the UK who have proved they are delivering a high quality tennis development programme.
Clubmark achievers must:
- Ensure the club has a fair and transparent operational structure.
- Adhere to best practice policies and procedures around safeguarding junior and adult members/users.
- Deliver a comprehensive and all-encompassing tennis programme for all ages and abilities.
- Produce a clear plan of action for long term sustainability and future growth.
Achim Kreuser, club chairman, said:
“We are delighted to be awarded Clubmark status. As with all sports clubs we are having to cope with rising costs, and in these tough economic times it is becoming difficult for some to maintain their membership. However this recognition shows we are a well-managed club and have developed plans for the future.”
