Staff at a Lichfield company have raised £1,500 to help a boy with an inoperable tumour fulfil his dreams.
A relative of ten-year-old Alfie Young, from Tamworth, revealed some of his wish-list and workers from Hellman Worldwide Logistics UK in Fradley decided to do their bit to help him tick off some of his aims.
He has been diagnosed with a brain stem tumour. It is in the area of the brain with connections to the spinal cord, meaning surgery and radiotherapy would cause severe long-term side effects.
Matthew Marriott, Hellman’s commercial director, said: “We were all devastated to hear about Alfie’s condition but his spirits are remarkably high and, together with the local community, we are doing everything we can to help him achieve his dreams over the next few months.
“At our head office in Lichfield, we’ve held a dress down day, a staff cake sale and a raffle. On behalf of the whole team, we wish the family all the best in their efforts to make Alfie’s dreams come true, and urge those across the industry and within the local area to continue to show their support and contribute generously for this worthy cause.”
The money has already helped Alfie achieve some of his dreams. He has already met England striker Daniel Sturridge at Wembley and will has already made plans to visit Disneyland Paris and travel to meet Lionel Messi in Barcelona.
