A church near Lichfield is going green thanks to new low-energy floodlights.
St Giles’ Church in Whittington will see the amount of power used to illuminate the building drop by almost a fifth.
Funding for the three new lightbulbs was secured via the Local Members Initiative Scheme, which enabled County Councillor Mathew Ellis to grant funding for this project.
Cllr Ellis admitted he had no hesitation in backing the scheme. He said:
“What a tremendous project. The church looks wonderful with the new lights and the big reduction in power consumption not only saves money but fits well with Whittington’s growing reputation as a village with energy conservation as a top priority. Well done to all involved and I’m delighted to have provided funding.”
