A Lichfield teacher has been nominated for a national prize.
Dr Neville Brown, principal of Maple Hayes Dyslexia School, is up for a Lifetime Achievement Award in the National Diversity Awards.
People will now be able to vote for him ahead of a ceremony in September.
Dr Brown said: “When I began my career, I was not thinking about the awards or the recognition.
“The only thing that I was thinking about are innumerable children struggling to receive the proper education that is needed when living with dyslexia or any learning disability.
“They are and always will be my drive, they are my inspiration.
“It is an honour to even be nominated for such an award and I share this beautiful recognition with each student that has walked through the doors of Maple Hayes.
“It is their stories and their journies that must be told, not mine.”
Dr Brown set up Maple Hayes with his wife Brenda, using their home and savings to help launch the school.
People can vote online before June 21.
