Chasetown FC need to “cut out the silly mistakes” if they want to rediscover their winning touch against Bradford Park Avenue.
That’s the view of Dave Egan after his side had to settle for a frustrating midweek draw against Colwyn Bay.
And the midfielder admits Chasetown need to learn from their mistakes at The Scholars Ground tomorrow (September 25).
He told The Lichfield Blog:
“I’m gutted after Tuesday really as Colwyn Bay were there for the taking and we took the lead twice. We need to cut out silly mistakes which are costing us goals – hopefully once that happens we can go on a winning streak.
“But the overall performance wasn’t bad and if we can take that performance into Saturday and cut out silly mistrakes then I’m sure we can get a good result and hopefully kickstart our season.”
Early FA Cup exits mean it will be the second time this season Chasetown have taken on Bradford Park Avenue, after The Scholars fell to an narrow 2-1 defeat on the opening day courtesy of an injury-time winner.
However, the performance showed that Charlie Blakemore’s side were not going to be out of their depth in the higher division.
And Egan believes The Scholars still have more than enough quality to be in the mix come the end of the season.
He explained:
“It’s been a really frustrating season so far because we are better than how we have been performing. Yes, we have to accept that this league will be more difficult, but I really believe we can be fighting for a play-off place come the end of the season.”
Chasetown’s game against Bradford Park Avenue kicks off at 3pm at the Scholars Ground tomorrow (September 25).
