A LOCAL motorsport club has hailed their karting track days as a huge success.
Cannock and District Car Club usually hosts events at Curborough Sprint Course, but has also begun to use the Midland Karting track for road vehicles in recent times.
It sees drivers use their road vehicles against the clock as they aim to clock the best time.
A spokesperson said:
“It has been an experiment, but our members have proven the track can be used competitively and safely for cars.
“The event has proven successful due to the low cost of entry and short waiting times between laps.
“Drivers are individually timed over 12 circuits of the course, which has been adapted to include a number of extra obstacles such as chicanes and tight hairpin bends.
“With an entry fee of only £30 and a minimum entry age of 13, it is a cheap and safe way for a youngster to get behind the wheel of a car legally and have some serious fun.”
The club is hoping to run another kart track event in November.
They will be back at Curborough Sprint course on 21st September and are looking for marshals to help out.
The spokesperson added:
“You’ll be right in the middle of the action or on a start or finish line recording competitors’ times.
“No experience is necessary and you can be paired with an experienced marshal.”
