Neighbours have won a battle to prevent a new house being built in Burntwood.
Plans were submitted to Lichfield District Council for a new three bedroom property on Meadway Street.
But neighbours had complained of potential parking issues, as well as raising concerns over the development of a plot of open land.
“The planning statement suggests that this area of land has little worth in the street scene but we disagree totally,” one neighbour said.
“This piece of land, along with the other three corners at the junction, provides a visual sense of openness in a very tightly developed area and gives some relief to the built format.
“It should be retained.”
Other residents near the proposed development said that they objected to the possibility of being overlooked by another house after more than 30 years of living in their home.
The application had claimed the land was an “incidental” green space, but council planners disagreed and rejected the proposals.
A decision statement from the local authority said: “The proposal would result in an over intensive and cramped form of development.
“The development would lead to parking problems and the position of the proposed access would constitute a danger to highway and pedestrian safety.”
Full details of the plan and the decision notice can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
