A Hopwas school is set to be the latest to have a 20mph speed limit introduced outside its gates.
Thomas Barnes Primary is one of 16 schools joining 160 across the county as part of the 20 is Plenty scheme.
During term time, the speed limit will be cut when pupils are arriving at morning and leaving in the afternoon. Speed indicators are also installed to urge drivers to slow down.
Cllr Simon Tagg, cabinet support member for transport at Staffordshire County Council, said: “It is important to remind drivers to be aware not just of their speed but also to be more vigilant around schools, because children can be preoccupied by their friends, technology and other distractions especially when they are leaving school.
“We also hope that the scheme will increase the number of children walking and cycling to school which in turn, will improve health and wellbeing, save parents’ money on petrol costs, whilst easing congestion around schools.”
