PEOPLE are being invited to stay active in 2025 with the launch of new exercise classes for those aged over 60.

Move It Or Lose It sessions will start on 9th January at St Chad’s Church Hall in Lichfield and Stonnall Village Hall.

Instructor Cat Stuart said:

“The New Year is a fantastic time to set new goals and focus on self-care.

“Behind the fun of the class is a serious mission to help people stay independent for longer. It’s unbelievable to think that 25% of women and 7% of men over the age of 70 do not have sufficient leg strength to get out of a chair without using their arms.

“This is when the problems begin as they are at risk of losing their strength and with it their independence.

“Research has also shown that people participating in a group exercise group are less likely to quit and I have people who have seen the benefits of coming to my classes for over eight years.”

The Lichfield class takes place on Thursdays at 10am, while the Stonnall session takes place from midday.

To mark the launch, the first two sessions on 9th and 16th January will be free.
