Footballers in Fazeley have been boosted after plans for new floodlighting were approved.
The six 15-metre high columns will illuminate the playing surface at the New Mill Lane ground, home of Coton Green FC.
Neighbouring homes had objected to the proposals, claiming it would reduce the value of their homes.
But the club had said local young people were leaving the club because of a lack of facilities.
A spokesperson said: “We continually see older junior teams disband because the club is unable to provide progression for our players.
“The floodlights mean we will be able to offer a fully FA-supported pathway from junior to adult football through the offer of midweek floodlit youth football.
“We firmly believe that the ability to offer this at Coton Green FC will have significant social benefits to the local community.”
Full details of the proposals can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
